DOUALA CITY COUNCIL MAYOR VISITS DANGOTE CEMENT CAMEROON

The Mayor of Douala City Council, Dr. Roger Mbassa Ndine, today led a delegation on an official visit to Dangote Cement Cameroon.

The Country CEO, Bertrand Mbouck, and his close collaborators welcomed the City Council Boss and his entourage at 10.40 am. A closed-door meeting between the CEO, the Plant Director, and the Mayor followed in the CEO’s office. They exchanged pleasantries and talked about the impact Dangote is making in the cement sector.

Stating the purpose of the visit, Dr. Roger Mbassa Ndine said “we came to have a general view of what Dangote is doing as a company. We expect from companies like yours, employment, investments, and I can state my satisfaction that you are going that way.”

The mayor praised the relations existing not only between Dangote Cement and the City of Douala but also between the Dangote Group and Cameroon at large.

“We are waiting for the fulfillment of the promises about expanding Dangote business to Cameroon”, he added, referring to a statement made by the Group’s Chief Executive, Alhaji Aliko Dangote after his audience with President Paul Biya at the Unity Palace on June 23, 2021.

The mayor finally promised support from the Douala City Council, in facilitating the creation of parking and pathway for DCC trucks.

Earlier, DCC CEO in his welcome address stressed the company’s commitment to Education and social welfare of the host communities. He recalled the award of scholarships to students of Deido and Bassa, rehabilitation of the IT room in Collège King Akwa and classrooms in Logbessou primary school, the construction of a community hall and boreholes going on in Bonaberi.

The visit continued with a tour of the plant intended to show the mayor and his collaborators the process of cement making. The tour started at the jetty, then the mill, followed by the CCR, the laboratory, and the packing plant.

An elated mayor left happily while promising to come back.
