This past Christmas, Chief Orie’s ancestral home witnessed a gathering of the Olariche Age Grade of Owerri, one of the city’s most respected and influential cultural groups. The age grade, responsible for organizing community activities, maintaining social order, and fostering unity, officially inducted Chief Orie as a full member. For those who know him, this recognition was long overdue. Despite spending years in the diaspora, Chief Orie maintained strong ties with his peers, embodying the values of community, respect, and shared identity. The induction, coinciding with the celebrations of his 60th birthday, was a colourful and meaningful ceremony, filled with traditional chants and rituals that reinforced the bonds between him and the Owerri people. Members of the age grade spoke with one voice, affirming that Chief Orie is “one of us,” a sentiment that reflects both personal affection and cultural validation.

Beyond cultural recognition, Chief Orie’s life has been defined by acts of compassion through the Hon. Chief Charles Orie Foundation. On December 22, 2025, the foundation, in partnership with the Owerri Archdiocesan Justice, Development, Peace, and Caritas (JDPC), donated food items, household essentials, and ₦10 million in cash to five orphanages across Imo State. The event, held at the Assumpta Cathedral, Owerri, marked the first in a series of social support programs designed to provide sustainable relief and empowerment to vulnerable communities. Rev. Fr. Dr. Gerald C. Njoku, JDPC Director, commended the foundation, describing its work as a true embodiment of the Christmas spirit and a reflection of the commitment to justice, solidarity, and human dignity. Children and caregivers alike were treated to a festive celebration, filled with joy and laughter, demonstrating that Chief Orie’s generosity extends beyond resources to meaningful experiences.

The award, presented by the International Group of African Women (GIFA), celebrates his contributions to social development, youth empowerment, cultural preservation, and humanitarian service. Representatives of the Imo diaspora in France have described him as a visionary, whose commitment to Imo State and Africa continues to inspire across borders.
