Enyimba assistant coach Okechukwu Ejeh has expressed satisfaction with his side’s goalless draw against Kano Pillars in the Nigeria Premier Football League, saying the result represents an important step forward for the People’s Elephant.
Enyimba secured their first point of the season after holding Kano Pillars to a 0-0 draw in their Matchday Six encounter at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.
The result ended a difficult opening run for the Aba-based club, who had failed to pick up a point from their first five league matches. Although Enyimba were unable to score, Ejeh viewed the away point as valuable, particularly given the circumstances surrounding the team’s start to the campaign.
Speaking after the match, the assistant coach maintained that securing a point away from home was not a bad outcome for the team.
The fixture was expected to be a challenging assignment for Enyimba, with Kano Pillars enjoying home advantage and the visitors arriving under pressure following their poor start to the season.
Enyimba approached the match with an emphasis on defensive organisation, managing to keep the hosts from finding the breakthrough throughout the encounter.
The clean sheet also provided some encouragement for the Enyimba coaching staff after conceding goals in previous matches.

For Ejeh, the result offers the team a foundation from which to begin rebuilding its campaign.
The People’s Elephant are one of Nigeria’s most recognised football clubs and have traditionally competed among the leading teams in the domestic league. Their difficult opening to the season, however, placed additional importance on getting a result in Kano.
The goalless draw means Enyimba leave the Sani Abacha Stadium with a point rather than returning to Aba empty-handed.
While the result does not immediately transform the club’s league position, it could provide a psychological lift to the squad as preparations begin for the next fixture.
The coaching staff will now be expected to address the team’s attacking difficulties after another match without finding the net.
Creating more scoring opportunities and converting them will be crucial if Enyimba are to climb the standings and move away from the consequences of their poor opening results.
The draw also gives the players something positive to build on, particularly after five consecutive defeats at the beginning of the campaign.
Kano Pillars, meanwhile, will have to settle for a share of the points on home soil after failing to break down a determined Enyimba defence.
With the NPFL season still at an early stage, both clubs have considerable time to improve their positions. For Enyimba, however, the point in Kano could prove significant if it becomes the beginning of a sustained recovery.
