Nigeria Strengthens Push for Sustainable Funding of Diplomatic Missions

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, has met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, to advance discussions on sustainable financing for Nigeria’s diplomatic missions.

The meeting centered on the critical role of strategic funding in strengthening Nigeria’s diplomacy and ensuring that the nation’s foreign policy priorities are adequately captured in the 2025 budget, while also setting a solid foundation for the 2026 fiscal year.

According to Ambassador Tuggar, securing the right resources will empower Nigerian diplomats to effectively safeguard national interests, deepen bilateral and multilateral engagements, and project Nigeria’s influence on the global stage.

The initiative is seen as part of Nigeria’s broader economic diplomacy drive, aimed at aligning foreign policy with economic development goals.
